Cristina Ottonello is a public artist, designer and educator who specialises in the construction of large scale, temporary installation for events and public spaces. The common denominator in her work is an engagement with the public; from playground designs to stage sets, site décor or illuminated installation, inspiration comes from the unique combination of the people she is working with and for, and the characteristics of site. Unusual spaces and the outdoor present her with the most interesting challenges; over the years she developed a quirky and humorous style, which aims to entertain and surprise, and to create maximum visual impact in large spaces. Oversized picnics, illuminated gigantic teapots, flower-patterned hummingbirds or bouncing fabric pillars; fantastical creations, figments of the imagination that contribute to create wonderful, whimsical worlds.
